Betty K. (Logan) Pearson

Betty’s funeral service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, January 27th at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.

The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 11a.m., Saturday, January 27th until the time of service.

Burial will be at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.

Memorials to the Community Heights Alliance Church or to the American Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home, please add, Attn: Pearson Family on the envelope.

Betty K. Logan Pearson, the daughter of Cecil Vere and Bessie Anna Lucille Leck Logan was born on April 19, 1929 in Coatsville, Missouri. She was a graduate of Monroe High School in Monroe, Iowa with the Class of 1947.

On February 2, 1957, Betty was united in marriage with Harold R. “Buck” Pearson in Omaha, Nebraska. They were blessed with four children, Ron, Karen, Bob and Carol. Betty was a production worker at the Maytag Company in Newton from 1951 until retiring on June 24, 1982. She was a member of the UAW Local 997 Retiree’s Union and she had attended the Community Heights Alliance Church when she lived in Newton. Betty enjoyed doing all types of craftwork; she also had enjoyed traveling and fishing. She had lived in Missouri, the Newton-Colfax area, Monroe, Newton and Des Moines. Betty was a loving and caring wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt and friend.

Betty died on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at the Mitchell Village Care Center in Mitchellville. She was 88. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Buck on June 03, 1994; a son in infancy, son, Ron Pearson in 2011; and two brothers, Richard and Clifford Logan.

Those left to cherish Betty’s memory are her son, Bob (Rhonda) Pearson of Des Moines; her two daughters, Karen Estabrook of Des Moines and Carol (Randy) Danley of Newton; five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
