Deborah Sue “Deb” Osborn, 63, of Kellogg died on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 29, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, March 28, at the funeral home. Memorials to the Kellogg Fire Department, Kellogg Christian Church, or Jasper County 4-H may be left at the funeral home.
Deb, the daughter of Darrell and Nellie (Quick) Wertz, was born on February 15, 1954 in Newton. She lived in Kellogg as a young girl before the family moved to Prairie City, where Deb graduated from high school in 1972 and was active in 4-H. Deb was united in marriage with Keith Osborn on July 13, 1974 at the First United Methodist Church in Newton. They lived in Minnesota for a couple of years before moving back to Kellogg. Deb had a love for children and did in-home day care in Kellogg for many years. She later worked in Materials Management at Skiff Medical Center. Deb was a 4-H Leader and a member of the Kellogg Christian Church. She enjoyed camping, crafting, and genealogy.
Deb is survived by her daughters, Liza Osborn of Kellogg, Melissa Osborn of Mount Vernon, and Carissa Osborn of Oskaloosa; granddaughter, Camryn Howard; her parents, Darrell and Nellie Wertz of Kellogg; siblings, Doug (Jackie) Wertz of Riverton, Julie (Greg) Stokke of Ankeny, and Steve (Kellie) Wertz of Kellogg; brothers-in-law, Larry (Sherry) Osborn of Altoona, Gary (Linda) Osborn of Newton; sister-in-law, Kathy (Dwight) Baldwin of Kellogg; and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith in 1993.
