Donna K. Jensen

Donna K. Jensen, 75, of Newton died on Thursday, January 21, 2016, at Careage of Newton.  A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 27, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.  The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.  Memorials to the American Diabetes Association may be left at the funeral home. 

Donna, the daughter of Garlon and Olive (Ruby) Ohaver, was born on September 19, 1940 in Otley, Iowa.  She grew up in Otley and graduated from Pella High School. 

Donna was united in marriage with Henry H. Jensen on February 11, 1961 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  The made their home in Newton where Donna was a homemaker and helped run Jensen Construction.  She also had worked at the Maytag Dairy Farm.  Donna was a long time member of the Moose Lodge and bowled for many years.  She enjoyed flower gardening, mowing her lawn, and being with her grandchildren.  She and Henry also liked their evening drives to look for deer.

Those left to honor Donna’s memory are her children, Christine Blomgren of Ankeny and Jay (Jenny) Jensen of Newton; grandchildren, James (Jenny) Jensen and Henry Jensen; and her sister, Berniece (Keith) Swanson.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry in 2015; daughter, Vandi Jensen; son-in-law, Douglas Blomgren; and brother, David Ruby.
