Druery W. McMillan

Druery W. McMillan, 75, of Newton died on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.  The family will begin greeting friends at 5 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory with a time of remembrance at 6 p.m.  Memorials to the Down Syndrome Foundation may be left at the funeral home.

Druery, the son of Alvin Taylor and Jean (George) McMillan, was born on August 16, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri.  They lived in St. Louis until 1949, when they moved to Maysville, Missouri, where Druery graduated from high school.  He went on to receive degrees in Industrial Technology, Mathematics, and Electrical Engineering.  In 1976, he moved to Newton, Iowa and worked for the Maytag Company as an Electrical Engineer, retiring in 2004. 

Those left to honor Druery’s memory are his sons, Matthew McMillian and Matthias McMillan (Teri Hodge); five grandchildren, Breanna, Nicholas, and Calvin McMillan and Joshua and Jessica McMillan; his siblings, Elvina (Gary “Buck”) Gossman of Kerman, California, Kay Gallagher of Inyokern, California, Sharon Fees of Visalia, California, and Sandra McMillan of Kerman, California; and his many family and friends in Missouri.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
