Janet Lee Harms. 71, of Newton died on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Skiff Medical Center in Des Moines. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 15, 2017, at East Lawn Memory Gardens in Eldora, Iowa. Memorials to Mercy Hospice may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton.
Janet, the daughter of Virgil and Lenora (Macy) Smith was born on December 15, 1945. She grew up in Eldora, Iowa. For over 40 years, Janet had lived in the Newton and Grinnell areas where she worked in many local factories. Janet enjoyed watching Westerns.
Janet is survived by her sons, Jim (Dawn) Harms of Newton and Monty Harms; two grandchildren, Levi and Baleigh Harms; a brother, Raymond Harms; and a sister, Eloise Roethler. She was preceded in death by her parents; a husband, Doug Redfern; a daughter in infancy; and two sisters.
