Jason Winchell

Jason Micheal Winchell, 46, of Newton died on Sunday, July 10, 2016, at his home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 15, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.  Memorials in Jason’s name may be left at the funeral home. 

Jason, the son of Patricia Hanna, was born on February 4, 1970, in Newton.  He was a lifelong resident of Newton working most recently at TPI and Dodd’s Trash and Recycling.  Jason enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, playing softball, and cheering for the Washington Redskins.

Those left to honor Jason’s memory are his children, Aaron Winchell (Jessica Ferguson) of Newton, Nycole Huffaker of Douglas, Georgia, Amber (Jerry) Van Brogen of Newton, and Karly Winchell of Des Moines; 7 grandchildren, Kohlton, Madison, Taja, Tessalyn, Drayton, Taighlynn, and Killian; his siblings, Ronnie (Debbie) Winchell, Sr. of Newton, Tammy (Brian) Roush of Newton, and Jeff Winchell of Grinnell; and his many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his mother; grandparents, Earl and Floretta Cobler; siblings, Robert Winchell, Jr., Brian Winchell, Sheri Ann Winchell; and his uncle, Leo “Nip” Cobler.
