Larry's funeral service will be 2 p.m., Monday, July 3rd at the funeral home.

The family will greet friends from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, July 2nd at the funeral home.

Burial will be at the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.

Larry Gene Bell, the son of Clarence and Helen Pearce Bell, was born on July 18, 1937 in Ewart, Iowa. He served his country in the U. S. Army from January 1961 to January 1963.

On November 16, 1963, Larry was united in marriage with Judith A. Couch in Newton, Iowa. They were blessed with three daughters, Debbie, Peggy and Carol. He worked as a building and grounds keeper for many years at the Newton YMCA. Larry had also owned and operated a general contracting business and he had worked as a welder. He had also worked at and retired from the Vernon Company in Newton. Larry was a member of the Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton. He was a member of the Good Sam Camping Club and the Jayco Camping Club. He had enjoyed camping for 45 years and he also enjoyed going fishing. Larry was a caring and devoted husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle and friend.

Larry died on Friday, June 30, 2017, at Park Centre in Newton. He was 79. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Gerald, Don, Howard and Loren Bell.

Those left to honor Larry’s memory are his wife, Judy of Newton; three daughters, Debbie (Marty) Blair of Newton, Peggy (Mitch) Ferguson of Guthrie Center and Carol (David) Wexler of Omaha, Nebraska; his six grandchildren, Jamie Blair of Des Moines, Jennifer (Justin) Waterland of Newton, John Ferguson of Urbandale, Jacob Ferguson of Des Moines, Joshua Jackson of Montezuma and Joseph Jackson of Osceola; 13 great-grandchildren, Justin Jr., Natalie, Bryce, Emma, Haylee, Hunter, Gunner, Lydia, Riley, Dallas, Marley, Lennon and Riley; many nieces, nephews and friends.
