Mark’s memorial service will be 11 a.m., Friday, July 21st at the New Community Church of the Nazarene, 605 W. 8th St. N. in Newton.

The family will greet friends following the memorial service and burial with a time of fellowship at the church.

Burial will be at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.

Memorials in memory of Mark (please make checks payable to Donald Dannels) may be left at the church on the morning of the service. Memorials may also be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home, please add, Attn: Dannels Family on the envelope.

Mark D. Dannels, the son of Donald D. and Esther M. Helmick Dannels was born on April 30, 1958 in Newton, Iowa. He was a graduate of Newton High School in 1976.

Mark grew up in Newton. He had also lived in New Mexico, California and for 20 years in Las Vegas before moving back to Newton 18 months ago. He worked in construction; he was a journeyman carpenter and a heavy equipment operator. Mark was a member of the New Community Church of the Nazarene in Newton. He loved being with his family. Mark enjoyed doing target shooting; riding motorcycles and he liked sports, especially football.

Those left to cherish Mark’s memory are his parents, Donald and Esther Dannels of Newton; stepchildren, Bobby (Sonya) Dannels of California and Floyd Dannels of California; five step grandchildren, his siblings, Jerry Lee (Cindy) Dannels of Newton, Jimmy Dean (Jo) Dannels of Newton, Del Eugene (Gale) Dannels of Newton, Brenda (David) Lester of Belle Plaine, Danny Duane (Donna) Dannels of Newton and John Jay (Mary Louise) Dannels of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and nephew, Christopher Dannels.
