Peggy J (Stier) Sanders

Peggy J. Sanders, 69, of Newton died on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.  The family will greet friends from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, December 17, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.  Memorials to Peggy’s family may be left at the funeral home.

Peggy, the daughter of Esther Stier, was born on January 25, 1948 in Jasper County, Iowa.  She was a lifelong resident of Jasper County living mostly between Newton and Reasnor.  Peggy was united in marriage with Tommy D. “Tom” Sanders on February 20, 1964 at the movie theatre in Newton.  They enjoyed the “Good Ole Days” together; roller-skating, dancing, and cruising in the convertible.  Peggy worked as a CNA and a Dietician at many local nursing homes and was the Dietician at PCM schools.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.  Peggy’s hobbies included camping, fishing, gardening, and cooking. 

Those left to honor Peggy’s memory are her children, Tommy Sanders, Jr. of Newton, Erwin (Staci) Sanders of Knoxville and their family, Bill Sanders of Newton, and Jody (David) Albee of Newton; 7 grandchildren including Devin (Justin) Sinclair, Brooke Sanders, Dylan (Nicke) Crook, Sierra Sanders, Cora Crook, Gypsie Sanders, and Ashton Albee; her 10 great-grandchildren plus one more on the way; sister, Betty Des champ of Marshalltown; her foster son, Lee (Amy) Cooper of Reasnor and their family; and her extended family and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her mother and her husband, Tom in 2007.
