Rosa Carpio (Carpio) Santos

Rosa’s Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 24th at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 305 E. Howard St. in Colfax.

The family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday, May 24th at the church.

Memorials to the family (please make checks payable to Mercy Meador or to Ben Carpio) may be left at the church on the day of the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home, please add, Attention: Santos Family on the envelope.                    

Rosa Carpio Santos, the daughter of Federico P. and Avelina (Ramirez) Carpio, Sr. was born on February 5, 1952 in Olongapo City, Philippines. She graduated from high school in the Philippines.

Rosa was united in marriage with Apolinario Santos. They were blessed with four sons, Richard, Joy, Victor and Albert. She had worked as a domestic helper and she had also worked at the Newton Health Care Center. Rosa loved her family. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing and flower and vegetable gardening.

Rosa died on Friday, May 12, 2017, in an automobile accident in Poweshiek County. She was 65. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Apolinario Santos; brother, Agripino Cundangan; and sister, Demetria Esparas.

Those left to cherish Rosa’s memory are her sons, Richard Santos, Joy (Geraldine) Santos, Victor (Vanny) Santos and Albert Santos, all of Olongapo City, Philippines; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, her siblings, Ben (Kristina) Carpio of Oskaloosa, Mercy (Richard) Meador of Newton, Fely Jaduko of the Philippines and Federico (Ruby) Carpio, Jr. of Australia.
