Steve W Ratliff

Steven Wayne Ratliff, 62, of Baxter died on Wednesday, June 7, at his home.  A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 13, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, June 12, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials to the Izaak Walton League may be left at the funeral home or the church the morning of the service.

Steve, the son of Charles Andrew and Helen Louise (Romans) Ratliff, was born on December 29, 1954 in Newton.  He grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1973.  Steve was united in marriage with Ann Ranae Schroyer on July 2, 1976 at the Sacred Heart Church in Newton.  He worked at the Maytag Company for 30 years, retiring in 2003. Steve was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  He was also a member of the Izaak Walton League for over 40 years; where he served on the board, had served as President and Membership Secretary, and still continued to cook the weekly meals.   Steve enjoyed being outdoors; hunting, fishing, camping, and 4-wheeling. 

Those left to honor Steve’s memory are his wife, Ann Ratliff of Baxter; sons, David Ratliff and Andy (Katie) Ratliff, both of Baxter; grandchildren, Benjamin and Riley; and his sister, Pam Ratliff of Newton.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
