| Interment: Following the funeral service on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. | |
| Those left to honor Jim's memory include his wife, Sonya of Newton; 2 sons: Earl (Danielle) Putz of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Lewis Putz of Newton; 2 grandchildren, Noah and Ethan Putz, and a granddaughter on the way; 3 sisters: Rose (Bob) Hansen of Reasnor, Mae Chambers of Davenport, and Carol (Dave) Wallace of Lacona; 3 brothers: Bernard (Darlene) Putz of Lacona, Larry (Carolyn) Putz of Newton, and Marvin (Sue) Putz of Monroe; his mother-in-law, Dorcas Davis of Chariton; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Putz of Liberty Center, Betty Putz of Des Moines, and Shirley (Jim) Morr of Chariton; brother-in-law, Terry (Kate) Davis of Strathmore, CA; 4 godchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. | |
| Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Margaret (Dittmer) Putz; his step-mother, Theresa; and 4 brothers: Keith, Martin, Jerome, and Delbert Putz.

| Jim attended parochial school at Rosemount through 8th grade and was a graduate of Southeast Warren High School. He was a laborer at Plant 1 of the Maytag Company for 30 years, retiring in 1997.

| Jim served his country in U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was also a member of the National Turkey Federation and served in their Outdoors Without Limits program. Jim enjoyed playing cards and telling hunting stories; loved his family and friends, and anything to do with the outdoors.
