| Those left to honor Jim's memory are his wife, Theda "Teddy" of Newton; 2 daughters, Lori Lynn (Raymond) Coleman of Hawk Point, MO and Jodi Kay Van Hoosen (Amber Allen) of Waukee; his 2 grandchildren, David James Coleman of Hawk Point, MO and Raechel Lynn Coleman of Warrenton, MO; brother, Charles Van Hoosen of Altoona; 5 sisters, Mary (Mark) Altemeier of Newton, Connie (John) De Greef of Newton, Janet (Monte) Rinehart of Monroe, Betty (Regan) Brodersen of Newton, and Diane (Mark) Blackwood of Davenport; and his many many nieces and nephews. | |
| He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Myrna M. (Cochran) Van Hoosen; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Carwin Lee Cooper; and sister-in-law, Charlene "Sherry" Van Hoosen. | |
| Jim was a graduate of Newton High School in 1956. He worked for various companies in many states in the metal fabrication and heavy equipment fields, including being a plant manager and line engineer. | |
| Jim served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he was a very active, including being the Baptist Youth Leader, Sunday School Superintendant, member of the Choir and the Trustee Board. He was also a member of the Des Moines Woodworkers Club. | |
| Memorials to the First Baptist Church Mission Fund may be left at the funeral home or the church the day of the service. | |
