Graveside Service: 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Taney County, Missouri.
Those left to honor Neal's memory are his wife, Jane of Newton; daughters, Sherry Phillips of Springfield, MO, "Charlie" (Brad)Rockwell of Salt Lake City, UT, Denice McMahon of Cedar Creek, MO and Erin (Todd) Dickinson of Eldora, IA; grandchildren, Shane (Jamie) Johnson, Nicole Johnson, Jonathan Gugliotta, Tyler Rockwell and Morgan Rockwell; great-grandchildren, Erica Johnson and Madison Johnson; brothers, Walter (Stella) McMahon of Richland, MO, David (Sue) McMahon of Mt. Zion, IL, Franklin (Ann) McMahon of Branson, MO, Gene (Kay) McMahon of Rogersville, MO; sister, Frances(Dan) Ford of Irving, TX, and many nieces and nephews.

Neal was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Walter and Serelda Bernice (McClary) McMahon; sister, Alta Selsor; and brother, John McMahon.

Neal was born June 16,1935, in rural Branson, Mo. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1953 and then attended Southwest Missouri State for 3 years. Neal worked for the United Telephone Company, now known as Sprint, as an Outside Plant Engineer for many years, retiring in July 1991. Neal was united in marriage to Jane Higginbotham on November 16, 1985, in Warrensburg, MO. Neal and Jane moved to Sully, Iowa in 1991 and then to Newton, Iowa in 2007.

Neal loved football, his St. Louis Cardinals and country music. He enjoyed working outside and took great pride in his yard. Neal will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and his overwhelming generosity for his family and friends.

Memorials in Neal's name may be left at the funeral home. There are no local services planned, but the family welcomes people to visit them at their home.
