| Graveside Service: 3 p.m., Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Graceland Cemetery in Creston, Iowa. Everyone will just meet at the cemetery. | |
| Those left to honor Charlie's memory are his son, Bruce Tracy (Cheryl) Burkland, Prairie City, Iowa; his daughter, Sharon (Steve) Atwood of Baxter, Iowa; four grandchildren, Carey Gorham, Teresa (Brad) Arrowood, Edie (Mike) Hatcher, and Stacie (Damon) Madole; and his nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, O. F. & Elizabeth (Winter) Burkland; and wife, Arlenna L. in 1998.

| Charlie graduated from Creston Senior High School in Creston, Iowa and received his degree in Engineering from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. | |
| Charlie retired from Maytag Research & Development at the age of 70 in 1986, with 37 years of service. Prior to Maytag he was employed in the aircraft industry as an Aeronautical Engineer with Curtis Wright-McDonald Douglas. | |
| Charlie was a devoted husband & father to his son, daughter & family. His life could be summed up as “somebody you could count on”. | |
