| Interment: Immediately following the funeral service on Thursday November 19, 2009 at Newton Union Cemetery. | |
| Those left to honor Betty's memory are her husband, Otto Green of Newton; daughter, Gayla (David) Hannagan of Newton; 2 sons, Gary Green and Galen Green, both of Newton; her 5 grandchildren, Gary Green of Marshalltown, Heather (Benjamin) Hannagan Adams of Newton, Lucas Clement of Newton, Holly (Nathaniel) Hannagan Dale of Newton, and Tyler Clement of Newton; her 5 great-grandchildren; 1 step-grandchild, Teresa Ann Robson of Newton; 2 step-great-grandchildren; and her 2 sisters, Angela Hindman of Newton and Kathryn Davis of Pleasant Hill. | |
| She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Anna (Manning) Schmidt; son, Gil Francis Green in infancy in 1960; daughter, Gloria Marie Green Clement in 1989; and daughter-in-law, Penny Green in 2008. | |
| Betty was a graduate of Newton High School in 1937. She then attended Drake University in Des Moines. After attending Drake she worked at FW Woolsworth for 2 years until she enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After serving in WWII she worked at the Maytag Company in the parts department until she was married. After she was married she was a homemaker. | |
| She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. | |
