| Those left to honor Geno's memory are his wife, Deserae; daughter, Isabella Long; two sons, Laketon and Drake Long, all of Newton; his mother, Bea O’dell of Kansas City, Missouri; his father, Roy Long of Richmond, Missouri; sister, Kayla Lane of Kansas City; two brothers, Chris Kirkland of Missouri, and Billy Kirkland of Kansas City. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

| Geno worked several years as a production worker at Realm in Newton. | |
| Geno attended the Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton. | |
| Geno loved coaching, fishing, hunting, playing basketball, and mushroom hunting. | |
| In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given in Geno’s name to be used for his three children, Laketon, Drake and Isabella. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or at the church on the morning of the service. | |
