Memorial Service: 11 A.M., Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the funeral home.
Visitation: The family will greet friends from 10-11 A.M., Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the funeral home.
Interment: Immediately following the memorial service on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Newton Union Cemetery.

Those left to honor Marvin's memory are his 2 sons, Jim (Chris) Crandell of Newton and Jack Crandell of Newton; 1 grandson, Jim (Jes) Crandell, Jr. of Forest Lake, MN; 5 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Emma, Caeden, Elliana, and Ava Crandell; his 4 nephews, Tony (Sandra) Crandell, Allan (Linda) Crandell, David (Barb) Crandell, and John Crandell; 2 nieces, April (Roger) Franksain and Marvia (Jose) Garrido; and his two step-sons, Jim and Dick Richtsmeier, their spouses and families.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Arlyne in 1970; 2nd wife, Wilma in 2004; a brother; 2 nephews; 2 nieces; and 2 step-sons.

Marvin served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

He was a self employed mechanic and electrician, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the VFW Post 1655, Cooties, American Legion Post 111, 40&8, Last Man’s Club, and the Elks Lodge. He served as Newton Cootie Commander, two time State Cootie Commander, VFW 5th District Commander, VFW 5th District Quartermaster, Newton VFW Commander, and Newton American Legion Commander.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Legion High School Nursing Scholarship may be left at the funeral home.
