Visitation: The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the funeral home.
Graveside Service: 11 a.m., Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton. Military honors by the Offutt Air Force Base Honors Division.
Those left to honor George's memory are his daughter, Shannon Spellman of Glendale, Arizona; grandson, Chase Caudle of Merritt Island, Florida; his great-granddaughter, Sloan Caudle of Merritt Island, Florida; three sisters, Florence Smith of Tucson, Arizona, Mary Powell of Mason City, Iowa and Dorothy Pearson of St. Petersburg, Florida; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Henry and Bertha S. (Brooks) Kling; daughter, Lauren in 2005; sister, Grace Meredith; and brother, Henry Kling.

George served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corps during WW II, where he was a 1st Lieutenant and B-17 pilot. George flew as a part of the 2nd Bomb Group, 49th Bomb Squadron.

George was a graduate of Newton High School in 1939. He also graduated from Iowa State University in 1946 with a degree in Animal Husbandry. He was a farmer in the Kellogg area and a commodities broker, retiring in 2005.

George was a member of the Newton Elks Club, American Legion Post 111, VFW Post 1655, and the Emerson Hough Chapter of the Izaak Walton League.

MEMORIALS in George’s name may be left to the Jasper County Honor Flight; memorials may be left at the funeral home.
