| Funeral Service: 11 A.M., Friday, May 28, 2010 at the funeral home. | |
| Interment: Immediately following the funeral service on Friday, May 28, 2010 at Newton Union Cemetery. | |
| Those left to honor Dean's memory are his wife, Margaret, of Newton; 3 sons, Dennis (Bobbie) Hammer, Jerry (Carol) Hammer, and Douglas (Karan) Hammer, all of Newton; his daughter, Deborah (Douglas) Durant of Baxter; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his 2 brothers, Carroll Hammer and Terry Hammer, both of Newton; sister, Helen Etter of Newton; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Marion and Wanda Willemsen of Newton. | |
| He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Jay and Mary Lola Irene (Hinshaw) Hammer. | |
| Dean did factory maintenance for the Winpower Company for 38 years, retiring in 1990. | |
| He was a member of the Metz Church, UAW Local 997, Jasper County Farm Bureau, S.P.G.M.A., Blue Grass Gospel Music, Inc., former member of the Newton Amature Radio Club (KØJZG), the Jasper County, Kellogg, Williamson Historical Societies, and Jasper County Senior Citizen Board Member. | |
| In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Metz Church, Jasper County Senior Citizens, or Jasper County Hospice may be lef at the funeral home. | |
