| Interment: Burial will take place following a lunch at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Palo Alto Cemetery. | |
| Those left to honor Raymond's memory are his wife, Marge of rural Newton; 4 sons, Raymond (Donice) Van Gilst of Sacramento, CA, Don (Deb) Van Gilst of rural Newton, Bob (Cheryl) Van Gilst of Los Lunas, NM, and David (Dorcas) Van Gilst of Pine Bluff, AR; his 15 grandchildren, Jonathan, Nathaniel, Abigail, Christy (Chris), Cody (Kacey), Daniel, Lisa (Tim), Lindsay, Katie, Lauren, Emily, Grace, Sarah, Elizabeth (John), and Abi; sister, Marlene (Marvin) De Graaf of Prairie City, IA. | |
| He was preceded in death by his parents, John Peter and Marie Van Gilst. | |
| Raymond was a lifelong resident of Jasper County and a lifelong farmer. | |
| He was a member of the Community Heights Alliance Church and enjoyed blue grass music and visiting with people. | |
| Memorials to the American Heart Association may be left at the funeral home. | |
