| The daughter of Agnes and Henry Marinus was born May 7, 1921 in Monroe, Iowa. She graduated from Prairie City High School in 1938 and attended AIB Community College in 1939. She was married to Verne F. Weaver in 1941. After her education, Gladys held a wide variety of jobs, working first at the Maytag Company. During WWII she worked at Hoxie Fruit and the US Army Base in Fort Eustis, Virginia. After the war, she worked for the Winpower Corporation, Holland Plastic Co. and Newton Sheet Metal.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Jasper County Historical Society, Newton Golden K Kiwanis, Newton Lady Elks, and the Newton Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association.
She is survived by daughter, Valerie Davenport (Brad) of West Des Moines; two grandchildren and their families, Eric Davenport (Marianne) of Solon, Madison and Dylan and Melinda Munson (Corey) of Sioux City, Andrew, Taylor, and Jordan. She is also survived by two sisters, Darlene Head of Pleasant Hill and Iola VanGorp of Leighton, sister-in-law, Ethel Studham and brother-in-law, Fred Weaver, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Verne Weaver; parents, Agnes and Henry Marinus; brother, Wayne Marinus; and companion, Richard Vonk.
