Beverly Starrett

   Beverly Starrett, 96, of Grinnell, died Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Windsor Manor in Grinnell.  The family will greet friends from 12-1 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association can be left at the funeral home.

   Beverly, the daughter of John and Lela (O’Brien) Elscott, was born March 9, 1928, in Newton. She grew up on a farm north of Killduff. She graduated from Newton High School in 1946. Lela had worked at Starrett Electric Shop and later for INA.  When she and Bud lived at the Lake of the Ozarks, she had worked for North Shore Electric. She moved to Grinnell after Bud died, first living at the Mayflower Community and then at Windsor Manor.  Beverly enjoyed bowling and bowled as part of a league for several years.

  Those left to honor Beverly’s memory include her children, Scott (Lisa) Starrett of Grinnell and Leanne Starrett of Illinois; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud Starrett; and sister, Betty Harrington.
