Betty L. (Brisel) Koppin

To celebrate Betty’s life, the family will greet friends with a coffee time at the Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton from 1-3 p.m., Thursday, January 4th.

Mike Simpson will start the visitation at 1 p.m. with a eulogy for Betty.

Betty L. Brisel Koppin, the daughter of Charlie Henry and Cleona Berniece Welch Brisel was born on August 28, 1941 in Jasper County, Iowa. She was a graduate of Newton High School in 1959.

On April 17, 1964, Betty was united in marriage with Duane P. Koppin in Ira, Iowa. They were blessed with a daughter, Jessica. Betty was a homemaker. She had worked at the Newton Manufacturing Co. in Newton and she retired from RJO, Inc in Newton. She enjoyed her grandkids, bowling and playing cards. Betty was a loving and caring wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend.

Betty died on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. She was 76. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Those left to cherish Betty’s memory are her husband, Duane of Newton; daughter, Jessica (Jason) Christian of Keller, Texas; her two grandchildren, Lydia Christian and J. Lochlan Christian, both of Keller, Texas; sisters, Lois Corrigan of Trenton, Missouri and Jean Daniels of Reasnor; brothers, Robert Brisel of Baxter, Jack (Lucy) Brisel of Lake Placid, Florida and David (Sheryl) Brisel of Waseca, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Karen (Ron) Sloan of Buffalo, Missouri; brother-in-law, David (Mary) Koppin of Newton and many nieces and nephews.
