Betty Jean Lippert, 82, of Newton died on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 7, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials to the Newton Arboretum may be left at the funeral home.
Betty, the daughter of Lloyd and Anna (Wymore) Landgrebe, was born on February 16, 1937 in Oskaloosa. She grew up in Appanoose County where Rathbun Lake now is. Betty graduated from Moravia High School in the Class of 1955. On December 16, 1955, Betty was united in marriage with L. David Lippert in Iconium, Iowa. They made their home in Newton. Betty worked for the Newton Community School District as a cook for 30 years. She was a member of the Community Heights Alliance Church. Betty loved working in her yard and flower garden. Her yard was so meticulously maintained that it was described as a park-like setting.
Betty is survived by her husband, L. David Lippert of Newton; son, Duane Lippert of Newton; grandchildren, Sara, Nicole, Natalie, Cara, and Clint; three great-grandchildren; her six brothers and six sisters; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kimberly Winchell; and a brother, Richard Landgrebe.
