David William Bollhoefer, 79, of Laurel, died on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at The Willows of Marshalltown. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Memorials to Iowa River Hospice may be left at Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
David, the son of Grant and Meta (Propp) Bollhoefer, was born on May 3, 1940, in rural Laurel. He graduated from Van Cleave High School in 1958. On August 22, 1961, David was united in marriage to Joyce Koppin in rural Newton at the Zoar Church. They were blessed with four children, Bonnie, Connie, Jim and Ron. David was a Dairy Farmer for many years and also worked in construction for Weidner Construction for over 20 years.
During his years, David and his wife helped create their family business, where he enjoyed caning chairs and weaving. He also enjoyed collecting toy John Deere tractors.
David is survived by his wife, Joyce Bollhoefer of Laurel; children, Bonnie (Mark) Ohrt of Haverhill, Connie (Scott) Allen of Laurel, Jim (Dawn) Bollhoefer of Newton and Ron (Kim) Bollhoefer of Garwin; grandchildren, Casey (Joel) Faircloth, Wesley Ohrt, Ashley Allen, Candace (Dustin) Aikin, Jacob (Megan) Bollhoefer, Katie Miller, Stephanie (Luke) Beintema, Lacy Bollhoefer and Shayna (Garrett) Steele; 12 great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Esther Schmidt of Newton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Grace Bluck.
