David S. Wilson

David S. Wilson, 47, of Newton died on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at Skiff Medical Center.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 14, at Cornerstone Bible Fellowship.  The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Memorials to David’s family may be left at the funeral home.

David, the son of Randy and Sheryl (Moranville) Van Zee, was born on December 13, 1969 in St. Joseph, Missouri.  He grew up in Kellogg and Newton, graduating from Newton High School in the class of 1988.  Following graduation, David served his country in the U.S. Army.  After being honorably discharged David continued his education, receiving his Bachelor of Computer Science degree from Northern Illinois University.

On October 25, 1997, David was united in marriage with Corey Wesson in Des Moines.  They made their home in Rockford, Illinois until 2005, when they moved back to Newton.  They were blessed with two daughters, Annika and Isabelle.  David was a loving and devoted father staying home to raise his girls.  He then later worked as a computer programmer for the Newton Manufacturing Company. 

Those left to honor David’s memory are his wife, Corey Wilson of Newton; daughter, Annika Ruth Wilson and Isabelle Grey Wilson; his parents, Randy and Sheryl Van Zee of Ankeny; his sister, Gail (James) Tratz of Owatonna, Minnesota; and his nieces and nephews, Gabrielle Wilson, Michael and Gabe Tratz, and Abigail Tratz.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary “Chris” Wilson.
