Debra "Deb" Lynn (Griggs) Gallaher

Deb died on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at her home in Grimes. She was 60. Deb was preceded in death by her parents and son, William “Bill” R. Gallaher in 2010.

Debra Lynn “Deb” Griggs Gallaher, the daughter of William C. and Emily A. Dodd Griggs was born on January 9, 1958 in Newton, Iowa. She graduated in 1976 from Newton Senior High School.

Deb loved her family dearly, especially her son Bill, her husband John and her granddaughters, Whitnee, Kimee and Rylee.  Deb retired from accounting and bookkeeping for several small businesses including The Vernon Company, Joel Johnson Motor Car Company and others.  She also worked at the United States Postal Service for many years.  Deb was a member of Who’s Who for American High School Students.

Those left to cherish Deb’s memory are her three granddaughters, Whitnee, Kimee, and Rylee; brothers, Denny (Barbara) Griggs of Williamsburg, Virginia, David (Jessica) Griggs of Williamsburg, Iowa and Douglas Griggs of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Deb's memorial service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 28th at the funeral home.

Burial will be at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.
