Dorothy (Moore) Martin Lemke

A memorial service for Dorothy will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2017, at the funeral home.

Dorothy, the youngest of 6 children born to Royal and Jessie (Whited) Moore, was born June 3, 1922, in Marshall County, Iowa. She attended a country school south of Marshalltown that had a potbelly stove.  She was united in marriage with Theo J. Martin in July of 1939.  They had two daughters, Carolyn and Marilyn.  The couple ran the A&W Root Beer stand in Newton for several years, selling Christmas trees when the stand was closed in the winter.  Later, Dorothy worked as a cook and server at the VFW.  Dorothy and Theo enjoyed going dancing together. She was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Kellogg United Methodist Church.  After Theo's death, Dorothy married Earl Lemke in December of 1985.  He preceded her in death in 2007.

Dorothy is survived by her 2 daughters, Carolyn (Darrel) Brack of Phoenix, Arizona and Marilyn Dever of Morro Bay, California.
