Edie’s family will celebrate her life by greeting friends starting at 3 p.m. on Friday, August 17th at the Izaak Walton League, 889 W. Hwy F36 in Newton.

Edie Reeder Simmons, the daughter of Elmer M. and Dorothy J. Kohler Reeder was born on June 19, 1959 in Newton, Iowa. She was a 1977 graduate of Newton High School.
On July 3, 1997, Edie was united in marriage with Carl “Corky” Simmons in Newton. Edie worked in tool service at the Maytag Company for 28 years. She had also worked as a bartender at the Izaak Walton League. Edie belonged to the Emerson Hough Chapter of the Izaak Walton League. She had attended the Metz Church and the Evangelical Free Church in Baxter. Edie loved being with her family. She enjoyed shopping and going to a casino.
Edie died on Monday, August 13, 2018 at her home. She was 59. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Those left to cherish Edie’s memory are her husband, Corky of Baxter; daughters, Heather (Jody) Wenzel of Dexter and Ashley Osborn of Urbandale; step son, Joe Simmons of Newton; step daughter, Robin (Brock) Hansen of Baxter; her sixteen grandchildren, her great-granddaughter, sisters, Karen Crook of Newton, Cheryl (John) Houseman of Des Moines and Diane (Bill) Webster of Newton; and her many nieces and nephews.
