Gary, the son of Archie “Eugene” and Patsy (Hayes) Goforth, was born on July 6, 1951 in Tucson, Arizona. He grew up in Tucson and graduated from Pueblo High School in 1969. Gary worked as a haul truck driver for Copper Mine Industries for over 30 years and later for Home Depot up until his retirement. In the early 80’s, Gary met his future wife Kathy while she was visiting family in Arizona. It wasn’t until 1998, that their paths would cross again, where Kathy and Gary rekindled their relationship. On January 1, 2000, Gary married Kathy in Las Vegas, Nevada. After many years, Gary and Kathy moved to Newton to be with family and later settling their home in Monroe. Gary always said he hated the Arizona heat and Iowa winters.
Gary enjoyed bald eagles, participating in Toys for Tots, watching the History Channel, American Pickers, fishing and riding his Harley through Utah, South Dakota and Wyoming.
