Geraldine O (Zinn) Woodruff

Geraldine “Geri” O. Woodruff, 91, of Newton died on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at Grinnell Healthcare Center.  A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 20, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.  The family will greet friends after the service at the funeral home.  A private family burial will be held at Willow Lawn Cemetery in Plainfield.  Memorials to Grinnell Healthcare Center, 415 6th Ave W. Grinnell, Iowa  50112, may be left at the funeral home.

Geri, the daughter of Otto and Viola (Bucholz) Zinn, was born on August 25, 1926 in Waverly, Iowa.  She graduated from Plainfield High School.  Geri was united with marriage to C. Lowell Woodruff on June 17, 1946 in Plainfield.  They moved to Newton in 1976.  Geri was a bank teller at the Jasper County Savings Bank for 18 years, retiring in 2002.

Those left to honor Geri’s memory are her niece, Sonja (Lawrence) Greene of Scottsdale, Arizona and her two nephews, Fred (Linda) Bentley of Iowa City and Dennis (Pam) Bentley of Horseshoe Bay, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lowell in 2004; two sisters, Lillian Stufflebeam and La Vonna Kasemeier.

The family would like our sincerest thanks to be given the staff at Grinnell Healthcare Center for their loving care of Geri during her final year of life. Their compassion and attention to her special needs went beyond what we could have asked for her.
