James’ funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 10th at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.

The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, May 9th at the funeral home.   

Burial will be at the Ashton Chapel Cemetery in rural Mingo.           

Memorials to the Ashton Chapel Cemetery may be left at the funeral home. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home, please add, Attn: Maxwell Family on the envelope.

James Everett Maxwell the son of Leon and Marjorie Faidley Maxwell was born on November 18, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a 1965 graduate of Collins High School in Collins, Iowa. James served his country in the U. S. Army during the Viet Nam War.

On December 29, 1967, James was united in marriage with Marta W. Weisser in Darmstadt, Germany. After Marta’s death in 2008, James was united in marriage with Cynthia S. Gabbert on August 28, 2010 in Mingo, Iowa. He worked at John Deere as a sheet metal fabricator, retiring in 2002. James was a member of the Ashton Chapel Church. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, woodworking, carpentry and old tractors especially anything John Deere. James was a devoted and caring husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend.

James died on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at his home. He was 70. James was preceded in in death by his parents and first wife, Marta in 2008.

Those left to honor James’ memory are his wife, Cynthia of Collins; son, Eric (Cheryl) Maxwell of Baldwinsville, New York; daughter, Denise M. (Gary) Walker of Cumming, Georgia; his two granddaughters, Brittney A. Maxwell of Baldwinsville, New York and Ashlea N. Maxwell of Baldwinsville, New York; his two step grandchildren, Kiel C. Walker of Lincoln, Nebraska and Rosanne R. (Casper) Brixius of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother, Gerald (Mary) Maxwell of Collins; and his nephews, Richard (Meredith) Maxwell, Lyle (Stacey) Maxwell and Chad (Jennifer) Maxwell.
