JoAnn (Sieberling) Hefley

JoAnn Hefley, 74, of Newton died on Monday, August 26, 2019, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center. No services are scheduled at this time. The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the cremation.

JoAnn, the daughter of Charles and Ruth (Solbrack) Sieberling, was born on November 21, 1944 in Mitchellville. She grew up in Mitchellville and later spent most of her adult life living in Newton and Missouri.  JoAnn was a CNA for over 30 years working in area nursing homes.  She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, playing cards, and listening to country music.

JoAnn is survived by her children, Larry Hefley of Newton, Karen Chapman of Newton, Nancy Behm of Pella, Jolene Lewis of Newton, and Ruthie Hefley of Newton; grandchildren, Chris Petrie, Lacey Hefley, Jeremy Roberts, Stephanie Parks, Sara Whisenand, Amanda Hefley, Brandon Peters, Chris Peters, Caitlyn Hefley, Taylor Lewis, Mackenzie Hefley, Georgia Hefley, Trenton Hefley, and Brenton Hefley; her 20 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lois Gilkison of Colfax and Lorna (Gene) Koder of Baxter. She was preceded in death by her parents and the fathers of her children, George Rainey, Robert Hefley, and John Slaton.
