Joy Kathleen (McKinney) Rudkin

Joy Kathleen Rudkin, 59, of Newton died on Monday, August 20, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.  A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, August 23, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joy’s family may be left at the funeral home.

Joy, the daughter of Lloyd and June (Shore) McKinney, was born on November 10, 1958 in Newton.  She was a lifelong resident of Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1977. Joy had worked at the Snook Inn. She was also a CNA at the Jasper County Care Facility and provided in home healthcare. Joy enjoyed gardening, wind chimes, and spending time with her family, especially her grandson.  She was a member of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and loved her two dogs, Grace and Spike.  

Joy is survived by her sons, Anthony (Cindy) Rudkin of Newton and Andrew Manley of Newton; grandson, Atley Camden Rudkin; her siblings, Marilyn (Tom) Robinson of Waterloo, Trisha (Ed) Frommer of Kansas City, and Jerrie McKinney of Cedar Rapids; and her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
