Kathleen "Kathy" Dianne Duncan

Kathleen “Kathy” D. Duncan, 72, of Kellogg died on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, June 6, 2019, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 7, 2019, at the funeral home. Immediately following the service will be a burial at Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg. Memorials to St. Jude Children’s Hospital may be left at the funeral home.

Kathy, the daughter of Wilbur and Virginia (Beason) Hunter, was born May 20, 1947 in Colfax. She was raised in Colfax by her father and step mother Donna, until her teenage years when they moved to Grinnell and later to Kellogg. On June 20, 1964, she was united in marriage to Lonnie Duncan at the Colfax Methodist Church. They made their home around the Newton and Grinnell area, most recently living in Kellogg. They were blessed with four children. Kathy worked as a nurse’s aide for Skiff Medical Center. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, collecting cookbooks, arts and crafts, reading anything with words, puzzle books, cats, and spending time with her grandchildren. Kathy was also an avid flower and vegetable gardener.

Those left to cherish Kathy’s memory are her husband, Lonnie Duncan of Kellogg; children, Steven Duncan of Denver, Colorado, Darrin Duncan of Colfax, and Kristi Duncan of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and one on the way;  and her siblings, Kayleen Alter of Newton and Norman (Linda) Hunter of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Rhondi Lynne Duncan; a brother in infancy; step-granddaughter, Dawnelle Weiland; and a grandson.
