Linda Perrenoud Obituary

Linda Maria Perrenoud, 68, wife, mother, nana, aunt, and friend to all, died peacefully on February 4, 2019 at Mercy One Hospital in Des Moines.  She was surrounded by loved ones.  A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 9, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton.  The family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m., Friday, February 8, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Jasper County Historical Museum or in Linda’s name may be left at the church the day of the service or at the funeral home.

Linda grew up by the shore in Manahawkin, New Jersey. She enjoyed making friends with her neighbors dangerous guard dog, running around the pine barons, dancing on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, and singing in New York City.

While in high school Linda saw some nice pictures of Central College in Iowa and decided to head to Iowa for college, after she looked up where it was at on the map.  While at Central she pursed her degree in Theater, Speech, and Education and most importantly met the love of her life, Bill Perrenoud, while they were working on the set of Hello Dolly.

Making their home in Newton, Linda’s life was full of teaching and theatre.  Linda could be found directing a play at Prairie City Monroe High School, where she worked and in her spare time helping at the Newton Community Theater with makeup, costumes, acting, directing, or selling tickets.  While at the theater her daughter, Traci, would always be in tow so Linda could make sure the love of theater was passed down to her. Linda was also a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, the Retired Teacher’s Association, Thespians Hall of Fame, and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she sang in the church choir.  She was an active volunteer for the Jasper County Historical Museum. Linda also thought retirement was for the birds so decided to work part time with the Grinnell High School speech team and as a mutual teller at Prairie Meadows.

Linda had a passion for life and knew a laugh and a smile could take you anywhere.

Linda is survived by her husband of 45 years, William “Bill” Perrenoud; daughter, Traci (John) Berry; her grandson, Jax Berry; brother, David (Betty) Garrison; her sister, Pam Short; brother-in-law, Charles Johnson;  aunt, Ginger Eismann; and her nieces and nephews including nephew, Ethan Short. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Deloris (Voss) Garrison; sister, Nancy Johnson; and brother-in-law, Edward Short.
