Miriam Schultz Obituary

 

Miriam Kaye Schultz, 86, of Lynnville, died on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Mayflower Health Care Center in Grinnell.  A private family burial will be held at a later date. Memorials to Friends Cemetery may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory.

 

Miriam Kaye Schultz, the daughter of Wilbur and Mabel (Van Genderen) Stanley, was born on May 20, 1933 in rural Searsboro. She grew up in Searsboro and graduated from Searsboro High School in 1950. Miriam was united in marriage with Doyle Schultz on September 30, 1950 in Searsboro. She worked at Van’s Radio & TV for 34 years. Miriam was a member of the Lynnville Women’s Club, Lynnville Friends Church, and later the Searsboro Community Church. Miriam was a beautiful singer and performed for many weddings, funerals, and solos at church. She was an amazing baker and known by all as the brownie lady for her famous buttermilk brownies.

 

Miriam is survived by her children, Sonja (Gary) Briggs of Lynnville, Kevin (Diane) Schultz of Grinnell, and Timothy (Barb) Schultz of Grinnell; grandchildren, Brandi (Chris) Rollings of Pella, Bethany Briggs of Lynnville, John (Amy) Schultz of Sully, Cassie Schultz of Grinnell, Amber Schultz of Grinnell, and Shannon Schultz of Cedar Rapids; and her sister, Maxine Van Hoover of Mesa, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Doyle.
