Robert "Bob" D. Briese

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 23, 2017, at Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.  Memorials in Bob’s name can be left at the funeral home. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home, please add, Attn: Briese Family on the envelope.

Bob, the son of Walter and Bernice (McGuire) Briese, was born July 22, 1927 in Creston, Iowa. He graduated from high school and then attended Iowa State University. Bob served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He had worked as a Field Auditor for the Social Security Administration. He was united in marriage with Beverly Roberts on August 30, 1946.  After Beverly’s death, Bob married Ardath (Neal) Morgan on February 14, 2013.  Bob enjoyed bowling and golfing, and was a member of the VFW Post 1655, the Moose Lodge #923, and the Newton Masonic Lodge No. 59 A.F. & A.M. Bob was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Those left to honor Bob’s memory include his wife, Ardath of Newton; daughters, Sharon (Joe) Wagenkchecht of Newton and Lisa Briese of Des Moines; 2 stepchildren; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Beverly Briese in 2012; son, Robert L. “Bob” Briese in 2015; brother, Ronald Briese in 2017 and sister, Evelyn Briese.
