Ardath M (Neal) Briese

Ardath M. Briese, 93, of Newton died on Monday, September 27, 2021, at Newton Village. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 4, 2021, at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ardath, the daughter of Milo E. and Elizabeth (Main) Neal, was born on December 18, 1927 in Newton. She graduated from Newton High School and later from Marshalltown Community College with a degree in nursing. 

On December 5, 1945, Ardath was united in marriage with Albert L. Grimm.  They had two children, David Leon and Connie Jo. Ardath was a member of the Kellogg Christian Church, the Jasper County Historical Society, Jasper County Senior Citizens, RSVP of Jasper County, and a lifetime member of the Grinnell Hospital Auxiliary. 

She enjoyed traveling, making several trips to Europe and the Holy Lands.  She also had traveled to most of the states in the US.  Ardath also liked to read, swim, dance, bowl, and play cards with friends. 

Ardath is survived by her daughter, Connie (Richard) Humphrey; two grandchildren, Justine (Gavin) Budhram and Bradley (Amy) Humphrey; and three great-grandchildren, Ethan Budhram and Elaina and Evan Humphrey. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Albert Grimm, Boyd Morgan, and Robert Briese; and son, David Leon Grimm.
