Betty Ann Dop

Betty Ann Dop, 65, of Newton died on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Accura Healthcare of Newton. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 15, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service and again after the service with a lunch at the funeral home. Memorials to Suncrest Hospice may be left at the funeral home.

Betty, the daughter of Wilson and Genevieve (Van Genderen) Dop, was born on October 21, 1959, in Newton. She grew up in Newton and graduated as Valedictorian of the Newton High School class of 1978. Betty then moved to Des Moines and received her RN and BSN from Methodist Hospital.  She worked at Methodist for a short time before moving to Omaha to work at St. Joseph Hospital and pursue her Masters in Nursing degree. Growing up she was a member of the Community Reformed Church in Newton and loved cats.

Betty is survived by her brothers, Rodger (Lisa) Dop and Douglas (Ruth Ann) Dop; and her brother-in-law, Dan Shea. She is preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Donna Shea.
