Betty Jane (Fisher) Johnson

Betty Jane Johnson, 97, of Newton, formerly of Boone, died on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at her great niece’s home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 8, at Newton Union Cemetery.  Memorials to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Betty, the daughter of Lee and Martha (Lee) Fisher, was born on February 26, 1924 in Boone. She lived in Boone for most of her life.  Betty was united in marriage with Gerald Johnson on Christmas Eve in 1944.   In addition to being a homemaker, she ran a clothing boutique in downtown Boone. Betty was very proud of the acreage that she and Gerald lived on and enjoyed mowing her yard and keeping up the strawberry patch. Betty liked going to the casino and tended to be very lucky. She also loved traveling with her niece and nephew, Joanne and Bill Hunter, to Okoboji and Branson and going out to eat with family and friends. 

Betty is survived by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; three sisters; and five brothers.
