Betty Jean McMahon, 91, of Newton died on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at her home. No services are being held at this time. The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the arrangements.
Betty, the daughter of Will and Anna (Garrison) Vansice, was born on July 9, 1933, in Baxter. Betty was united in marriage with Leland Homer McMahon. She worked as a CNA for many years in area nursing homes and then as a janitor at Berg. She enjoyed crocheting and watching Westerns and Wheel of Fortune. Betty also loved her many cats. She was a past member of the Moose Lodge.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Butler; grandchildren, Mya (Patrick) Martin, Hillary McMahon, Alisha Erickson, Scott (Jen) McMahon, Jake McMahon, Jenny (Kevin) Gerlach, and Cara Sue Torner; her many great-grandchildren; and a sister, Janice Funk. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1984; her three sons, Robert, Jerry, and James “Jim” McMahon; and her many siblings.
