A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 17, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, February 16, at the funeral home.  Memorials to the United Presbyterian Church, Wesley Life Hospice, or to the Donor’s Choice may be left at the funeral home.

Bev, the daughter of Verne and Coleen (Gesford) Snook, was born on July 19, 1929, in Newton.  She grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1947. Bev was united in marriage with Lawrence “Buck” Nearmyer on February 22, 1948 in Newton. She was a farmer’s wife and homemaker.  Bev was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church serving as a Deacon and coordinating many bereavement lunches.  She also served as a Palo Alto Township Trustee and was a member of the Palo Alto Grange. Bev enjoyed her Tuesday morning coffee group.   Bev was a “marathon” shopper and loved finding a good pair of stylish boots.  She also enjoyed decorating her home for all of the seasons of the year.  Bev loved to help people and had a hard time saying no when asked, a trait she has passed on to her family.

Bev is survived by her children, Richard “Rick” Nearmyer of Newton, Nancy (John) Smith of Tonganoxie, Kansas, Jill (Robert) Titus of Newton, and Lori (Jeff) Vos of Newton; grandchildren, Cherish (Robert) Calovich of Tonganoxie, Tiffany (Andy) Lehrman of Newton, Heather (Lance) Ross of Newton, Trevor (Kristin) Titus  of Kellogg, Kelsey (Leif) Strandskov of Des Moines, Tia (Andrew Nelson) Nearmyer of Windsor Heights, Tobi (Justin) Isbell of Des Moines, and Tanner (Malloy) Nearmyer of Colfax; her 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Willard (Gloria) Snook of Newton; her sister, Phyllis (J.D.) Wood of Newton; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Fred Swank.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Buck Nearmyer; and a brother in infancy, Robert Snook.
