Bobette Patton, 80, of Newton died on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at her home. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, July 28, 2023, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials in Bobette’s name (checks made payable to Bill Patton) may be left at the funeral home.
Bobette, the daughter of Lloyd and Rosemary (Lewis) Peerboom, was born on October 29, 1942 in San Diego, California. As a young child her family lived in many places with her dad’s military career. By the age of 3, her family had settled in Newton, Iowa where Bobette would attend school. Bobette was united in marriage with Bill Patton. Together they served many communities throughout the years; Bill as the pastor of several churches and Bobette as the pianist, choir director, and many other roles she would take on being the pastor’s wife. Bobette had a love of genealogy and had done extensive research on her family’s history. In retirement, Bill and Bobette moved back to Newton.
Those left to honor Bobette’s memory are her husband, Bill Patton of Newton; children, Mark (Shawna) Patton of Escondido, California, Scott (Carol) Patton of Taft, Texas, Joel Patton of Baxter, and Shawna Patton of Des Moines; her 10 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Vickie, Verna, and Michael. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, James Patton.
