Brandon M Avila

Brandon Matthew Avila, 45, of Newton died on Friday, December 30, 2022, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials in Brandon’s name (checks payable to Jacob Etter) may be left at the Wallace Family Funereal Home and Crematory.

Brandon, the son of Lydia Avila Hassig, was born on January 30, 1977 in Newton.  He graduated from Newton High School in 1995. Brandon later went to trade school for plumbing and worked as a plumber for Brookers.  He enjoyed motorcycles and loved spending time with his family.  Brandon was an excellent cook and his kids agreed that cooking was his “love language”. 

Brandon is survived by his children, Chaniese Crowe, Jacob Etter (Camarin Duncan), Michael Crowe (Holly Good), Erin (Jakob) Weithers, Jade Avila, Courtney (Devin) Christensen, and Kayla Crowe (Gavin Anderson); his grandchildren, Rosalie Anderson and Lila Christensen; mother, Lydia Avila Hassig; sister, Gabrielle Avila; and nieces and nephew, Karenzya James, Maria James and Russell Callison Jr: and his significant other, Jennifer Houston.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents.
