Brandon Lee James, 33, of Newton died on Friday, September 18, 2020, in rural Newton from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Memorials to the Orchard Place or Teen Challenge may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
Brandon, the son of Shawn William and Jo Anna (Partelow) James, was born on October 14, 1986 in Newton. Growing up he enjoyed BMX bikes and motocross racing. Brandon attended Newton schools and the DMACC welding program. He was smart, funny, and skilled. Brandon enjoyed welding and had started his own business. He had a huge heart and protected those he loved. Not everyone agreed with the way he did that, but it was his way. Brandon always liked tinkering with things.
Brandon is survived by his mother, Jo (Paul) Partelow-Blanchard of Newton; father, Shawn (Joyce Prendergast) James of Newton; brothers, Devin Hoksbergen (Vanessa Trotter) of Newton and Austin James of Newton; his nieces and nephews, Layne Trotter and Nalia, Oliver, and Corbin Hoksbergen; maternal grandparents, Ron and Dottie Partelow of Newton; paternal grandmother, Rose James of Newton; uncles, RD Partelow of Newton and Marty James of Las Vegas, Nevada; aunt, Ronda Partelow of Knoxville; his son, Zaine Dietrich of Des Moines; his significant other, Jenni Clark of Oakland Acres and her children, William Cox and Georgiana Stock; and his many cousins including Josh Woodard. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Rodger James; an aunt, Lori James; and an uncle, Rusty James.
