Brinda, the daughter of George and Claudia Mae (McKinnis) Gaston, Sr. was born on April 24, 1956, in Hayti, Missouri. As a child she moved to Mississippi where she would live until 1985. Brinda was united in marriage with Jimmy Robinson, and they were blessed with seven children. In 1985, they would move to Waterloo, Iowa where Brinda was a homemaker.
Brinda was a “mom to many” and once you met her you were considered family. Being family meant she would make sure you were fed well. Her specialties included collard greens, dressing, banana pudding, sweet potato pie, and chitlins. She also loved to go fishing and had a green thumb, allowing her to fill her home with plants and flowers.
Brinda is survived by her six children, James Robinson, Tanya Robinson, Robbie (Emily) Robinson, Missy Robinson, Bruce Robinson, and Quincy Robinson; 22 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; her siblings, Larry (Shelley) Gaston, Darrell Gaston, Helen Gaston, and Marsha Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmy Robinson; a son, Calvin Robinson; and siblings, Priscilla Hill, George Gaston, Jr., and Faye Gaston.
