Britt David Renwick, 72, of Newton, Iowa, passed away peacefully on September 2,2026.
Britt was born on May 11, 1954, in West Union, Iowa, the son of James C. and Marjorie L. Renwick. He was a graduate of the Newton High School Class of 1973. Britt spent most of his life working as a lineman, laying cable and fiber and eventually leading a fiber crew in Minnesota and California. He took great pride in his work and especially enjoyed his years overseeing crews.
A natural craftsman and artist, Britt was creative, kind, and generous. He never met a stranger and was often the life of the party. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool and cribbage, and cooking. He was especially known for his much-loved barbecued chicken.
Britt often spoke of his children, Brittany and Corey Renwick, and took great pride in them and his grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Brittany Renwick and Corey Renwick; grandchildren, Mallory Moore and Samuel Miller; and siblings, Peggy (Larry) McMurray, Ellen (Jim) Guyer, Jackie Green (Greg Bruns), Mary Jo Renwick, Jim Renwick, Jeff (Renee) Renwick, Robin (Jeff) Brain, and Rick (Char) Renwick.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Renwick; his mother, Marjorie Renwick; his sister, Cathy Bemiss; his brother, Mark Renwick; and his granddaughter, Clara Miller.
There will be a private family graveside service. Britt will be lovingly remembered—with a smile, a good story, and perhaps a plate of his famous barbecued chicken.
