Carol Ann (Crabtree) Johnson

Carol Ann Johnson, 77, of Newton died on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Newton Village. A celebration of Carol’s life will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Newton American Legion. Memorials to Quilts of Valor may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Carol, the daughter of John and Mabel (Handeland) Crabtree, was born on October 5, 1947, in Wisconsin. At a young age, she moved to Newton, Iowa with her family. Carol graduated from Newton High School in 1965.  On February 8, 1980, Carol was united in marriage with Paul Johnson in Newton. Carol worked as a Home Healthcare Aide for Jasper County for many years.  She enjoyed scrapbooking, playing “Words With Friends”, and camping at Robert’s Creek. Carol liked to collect and had collections of owls, teapots, angels, and gingerbread men.  Her favorite days where “Grandma Days” when she would have the grandkids over to bake, play boardgames, and spoil them all day long.

Carol is survived by her husband, Paul Johnson of Newton; children, Jason (Jennifer) Adams of Newton, Lisa (Jason) Jackson of Katy, Texas, and Job (Minako) Johnson of West Des Moines; her grandchildren, Tyler Adams, Kari (Brennan) Veal, Jaden (Nick) Littell, Shawna (Cameron) Sampson, Shayna Johnson, Zane Johnson, Catelyn (Sid) Trotter, and Chase (Logan) Hauber; great-grandchildren, Jason, Zander, Piper, Briar, Maebelle, Damian, and Owen; her siblings, Tom Cupples of Knoxville, Herman (Connie) Cupples, Jr. of Newton, and Louise Seals of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father, John Crabtree; mother, Mabel and Herman Cupples; her daughter, Melissa Kolpin; a son, Curtis Adams in infancy; and siblings, Jim Crabtree, Bill Crabtree, twin sister, Connie Beaderstadt, and Roy Cupples.
